Pink October at Mavala

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year Mavala UK is turning pink for it, with a pink collection supporting Little Lifts, the charity for people affected by breast cancer, and gentle care advice for anyone going through treatment. Care before beauty, which is where we started.

What Pink October is

Every October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month asks people to check themselves, to talk about it, and to support the charities that fund research and look after people through treatment. The pink ribbon is the sign of it. Mavala has marked Pink October in the UK before, and we are doing it again this year, properly.

What we are doing this October

The pink collection. For the whole of October a collection of pink nail colours and care sits together in one place: see the Pink October collection.

The charity. This year's charity is Little Lifts, for people affected by breast cancer. Little Lifts sends free gift boxes to people going through breast cancer treatment across the UK. Registered charity number 1170737. For the whole of October, 20% of every pink shade sold goes to Little Lifts.

Care during treatment

Treatment can leave skin dry and easily irritated, and nails brittle, ridged or discoloured. None of that needs a special product, but it does need gentle ones. Our cleansers and moisturisers are dermatologically tested and formulated for sensitive skin, and our nail care is built around protecting and conditioning rather than covering up. Whatever you use, follow the advice of your own care team first, and stop using anything that stings or feels wrong.

Read more in our care guide: Looking After Yourself During Cancer Treatment: Skin, Nails, Hands, Feet, Brows and Lashes.

Our products care for skin and nails. They do not treat, prevent or cure anything, and we will never suggest otherwise.

Check yourself, and know where to turn

Checking regularly is the point of the month. CoppaFeel! explains how, in plain words, for every age. Breast Cancer Now and Macmillan are there for anyone living with a diagnosis, and the NHS lists the signs to look for. If you notice a change, see your GP.

At the end of the month

In early November we will publish the total raised here, and confirm when it has been paid.
